Definition A hybrid car is a vehicle that combines two or more power sources. Most commonly, these are electricity and gasoline and the outcome is improved fuel economy a less cost per mile. Hybrid car to standard gasoline cars The hybrid car has less emission compared to an ordinary car. It also has less harmful pollutants as well as greenhouse gases to up to 90%. This can significantly reduce the amount of air pollution every single day. It will definitely contribute to save the planet from the effect of global warming in the long run. Hybrid car also uses more miles to a gallon. A standard gasoline car depreciates faster than a hybrid car. The latter can prove to be a practical investment. Hybrid car is reliable during long distance travel. Not to mention that it has lesser consumption on gas.
Hybrid to electric-powered cars
An electric powered car relies solely on battery. Hybrid car has two engines to switch whenever applicable to the owner. When one conks out, the other can be depended upon. Electric powered car on the other hand has to be plugged every so often in order to recharge the battery. Hybrid car recharges the battery while it drives on the gas mode. Therefore there is no need to stop and charge. It is also for the same reason that hybrid car has better mileage than electric powered cars. The latter works best in traffic roads where they need to stop and go. Electric powered cars cannot go on high speeds, which limit it to short distance travels. Advantages A true hybrid car significantly reduces air and noise pollution. Although it sells at a more expensive price due to its environment and savings benefits, the rebates and subsidies might be enough to compensate the extra dollars on the budget. In terms of maintenance, hybrid employs regenerative braking which allows it to keep the brake pad than ordinary wear and tear. Gas motor parts also benefit from ordinary wear because it shuts down whenever electricity is used. Disadvantages Currently, the hybrid car is not extremely popular among most households. The benefits of a hybrid car are not much impressed on people. It is for this reason that hybrid cars have low demand and low turnover among manufacturers. It is more expensive than other non-hybrid cars although it can be neutralized through access to institutions offering discounts and subsidies. It is also has more weight than others. Accidents can be very crucial to drivers because they might trigger high voltage wires risking electrocution in the process. The hybrid car technology is complicated, thus it is difficult for owners to drive their hybrid car to a local mechanic for regular check up. In case of malfunction, it has to be repaired by experienced mechanics. Although spare parts last longer, it may be difficult to find one within the vicinity in case of immediate replacement. They may also be costly than the spare parts of its counterparts. Several institutions and manufacturers encourage consumers to buy hybrid cars. Some states offer car tax rebates and subsidies. Insurance companies also provide less insurance cost to hybrid cars. Google owners and management have been very vocal about its support. It provides incentives to employees to encourage them to buy hybrid car. There are many things to consider before buying a car, hybrid or otherwise. The issues presented above may be a cause to like and dislike the hybrid car technology. However, the environmental benefits are just too prominent to ignore. |
